Fill A Backpack provides brand new backpacks filled with grade-appropriate school supplies to children in need to maximize their academic potential.

Join A Precious Child and support the Fill A Backpack program. Together, let’s ensure that every child steps into their classroom on the first day of school equipped with the supplies they need to succeed.

The first day sets the tone for the entire academic year. It’s not just about having a backpack and supplies; it’s about giving every child an equal chance to excel, to feel confident, and to thrive.

How it Works

Our Community Comes Together to Collect School Supplies

A Precious Child’s community of supporters host collection drives, donate brand new backpacks and supplies and raise funds. Volunteers come to A Precious Child and fill backpacks! 

We provide backpacks filled with supplies to children in need before the first day of school.

Through our Empowerment Resource Center and Agency Partners, we ensure every child gets a backpack filled with school supplies so they can start the school year feeling confident and prepared to succeed academically.

Host a Drive

Fill A Backpack drives are June 24th to August 2nd

Spread the Word! 

Getting the word out about your drive is easy, especially when you use our Fill A Backpack Marketing Tool Kit that contains sample social media posts, fillable flyers, etc.

Track your progress to keep your participants motivated. Make regular posts on social media to keep the community informed of the drive’s needs.

Collect Brand New Backpacks and Supplies! 

Collection bins are available for pick up from June 11th – July 19th Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM at our Donation Center, in the back of 7051 W. 118th Ave., Broomfield, CO 80020. You are more than welcome to use your own bins or boxes to collect backpacks and supplies. Please utilize A Precious Child’s Fill A Backpack Marketing Tool Kit. 

Drop Off Your Backpacks and Supplies!

Backpacks and supplies can be dropped off at our Donation Center Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. All Backpacks and supplies should be dropped off not later than August 2nd 2024.

2023 Community & Corporate Challenge Winners

In 2016, we began inviting corporations and local community groups to meet the challenge of filling backpacks for Colorado children in need.  Each year since, the Fill A Backpack Challenge helps meet the goal of providing thousands of children with brand new backpacks and supplies.
