Every Child Deserves a Strong Start

When children have the right tools, they’re ready to learn, grow and thrive. Our Fill A Backpack program provides children in need with brand-new backpacks filled with grade-appropriate supplies – giving them the confidence to start the school year prepared and ready to succeed.

When you support the Fill A Backpack program, you’re doing more than providing school supplies. You’re lowering barriers, empowering young minds and creating opportunities for a brighter future.

Program Impact

Meaningful Reach:  In 2025, we distributed 11,700 backpacks, helping more children start the school year feeling prepared and confident!

Community Investment: We partnered with 56 Agency Partners like school districts that helped distribute backpacks to children in need. We received support from 187 Drive Partners. We also saw 600 Volunteers come together volunteering 1,320 hours to assemble backpacks, ensuring children have their needed tools before the first day of school!

Ways to Get Involved

Sponsor a Child's Backpack

When you sponsor a child’s backpack, you’re supplying them with success. Browse and select backpacks by grade level to sponsor. Each backpack includes the grade-appropriate school supply list to shop for.

Then, drop off your backpacks filled with school supplies to A Precious Child, or make a financial donation and we will do the shopping for you!

Host a Drive

Hosting a drive for Fill A Backpack is a powerful way to amplify our mission and make a tangible impact within your community. By organizing a collection of school supplies including backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other classroom essentials, you can rally friends, colleagues, and neighbors to come together in support of local children.
