Every Child Deserves a Strong Start

When children have the right tools, they’re ready to learn, grow and thrive. Our Fill A Backpack program provides children in need with brand-new backpacks filled with grade-appropriate supplies – giving them the confidence to start the school year prepared and ready to succeed.

When you support the Fill A Backpack program, you’re doing more than providing school supplies. You’re lowering barriers, empowering young minds and creating opportunities for a brighter future.

Program Impact

Meaningful Reach: In 2024, we distributed 12,635 backpacks, helping more children start the school year feeling prepared and confident!

Community Investment: We partner with over 50 Agency Partners like school districts that help distribute backpacks to children in need. We receive support from over 100 drive partners. We also see over 650 volunteers come together volunteering more than 1,500 hours to assemble backpacks, ensuring children have their needed tools before the first day of school!

Ways to Get Involved

Sponsor a Child's Backpack

A Precious Child will provide physical or virtual tags with specific children’s backpacks and their needed and desired school supply items. Your colleagues, friends, and family can take a tag and ‘sponsor’ the child by purchasing the backpack and items from their wish list.

Host a Drive

Hosting a drive for Fill A Backpack is a powerful way to amplify our mission and make a tangible impact within your community. By organizing a collection of school supplies including backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other classroom essentials, you can rally friends, colleagues, and neighbors to come together in support of local children.
